Richard Davis, DVM (a.k.a. Doc Rick)
“Doc Rick” was born and raised in central Indiana. He attended Purdue University, graduating from the School of Agriculture in 1985, and DVM School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. Since then, he has spent over 30 years in the veterinary field! His special interests include nutrition and population medicine. Doc Rick’s favorite part of his career is helping clients, both two and four-legged, live long and healthy lives together. He is married to wife, Jennie. Together, they have a daughter, two sons, and a boxer mix named Chopper. For fun, he enjoys fishing, spending time with his Foundation Quarter Horses, and building heirloom furniture. Something you may not know, is that all of the furniture found in the clinics are hand-built by Doc Rick himself!
Johnathon Buis, DVM (a.k.a. Dr. John)
Dr. John was born and raised in Trafalgar, Indiana. He has been in the veterinary field for 8 years now. His special interests include ophthalmology and regenerative medicine. Dr. John completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis, and his DVM at Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine. His favorite part of a career in veterinary medicine is helping animals with challenging cases return to their former health. He takes extra time to educate owners on preventative medicine, in order to greatly reduce the risk of diseases. Dr. John and his wife of four years live with their one-year-old son, a dog named Tess, and a cat named Bingley. During his free time, Dr. John enjoys hanging out with his family. When his son goes down for a nap, you can find Dr. John landscaping and working with plants and trees.
Dr. Marissa Veld (a.k.a. Dr. Veld)
Dr. Veld was born and raised in DeMotte, Indiana. She is a recent graduate of the Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine (2019), after finishing her undergraduate degree in Animal Science. She has spent her school breaks working for Davis Veterinary Clinics since 2013. Dr. Veld is particularly interested in preventative medicine, neurology, and radiology. She enjoys getting to work with her awesome veterinary team and clients to help all furry friends enjoy happy, healthy lives with their families. In her spare time, you can find Dr. Veld at Purdue ballgames, Zumba class, hiking a state park, or spending time with friends and family both near and far. Her family includes her parents and grandparents, who reside in DeMotte. Her brother and his wife live in Indianapolis with their three Schnauzer mixes. Her sister and her husband live near Orlando, Florida, with her niece, nephew, and their cat. Dr. Veld lives with her rescued Schnauzer mix, Annie, who is currently enjoying her senior dog years by taking lots of good naps and going on her famous “daily patrols” through the neighborhood.
Kristin was born in Harvey, Illinois, and moved to Cedar Lake, Indiana, in 1987. She has been in the veterinary field for six years now, and moonlights as the clinic’s surgery photographer! Kristin’s favorite part of the job is interacting with clients. She adores all of her co-workers and clients, as they make work extra fun. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their three beautiful children, as well as friends and family. Her home is full of fur babies– a 10-year-old Yellow Lab named Nala, a 6-year-old Boston/Frenchie mix named Molly, a 5-year-old Wirehaired Pointer named Max, a 3-year-old Wirehair Pointer named Quinn, and a 6-year-old grey kitty named Lou. Kristin loves spending time outdoors, fishing, and crafting.
Liz was born and raised in Knox, Indiana. She has spent the past 22 years working in the veterinary field, and as a Registered Veterinary Technician for 19 years! She particularly enjoys surgery and anesthesia. She attended the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Denver, Colorado. Being able to care for animals in need of help and meeting all kinds of clients and patients are her favorite parts of her career. Liz lives with her boyfriend, Josh, and a three-and-a-half-year-old son named Cale. Together, they raise and train Barrel Horses. They love trail riding, camping, horse shows, and outdoor activities. They have two horses, one pony, an Australian Shepherd named Sammy, a Blue Heeler named Gus, and a Betta Fish!
Natalie was born and raised in Rensselaer, Indiana. After spending eight years as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for human patients, she made the switch to fur patients in May of 2019. She holds her Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Ivy Tech College of Kokomo, Indiana, and is a Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Her favorite part of a career in the veterinary field is helping animals heal from their illnesses, injuries, or surgeries. Natalie has been happily married to husband, Adam, for four years now. Together, they have two kids– a two-and-a-half-year-old named Charlie, and a 10-month-old named Madeline. They reside on a farm, where their pack of fur kids lives as well. They have two dogs– an Australian Shepherd puppy named Lola and a 5-year-old Yellow Lab named Nike (who loves bird hunting). Natalie and her family also have about a dozen Boer Goats. In her free time, she runs her own business called Gene & Grace Creations. She also loves fishing, hunting, and spending time with her family.
Dawn was born in Hammond, Indiana, and raised in Cedar Lake. She has spent the past 10 years of her life in the veterinary field. She attended Hanover Central High School. Her favorite part of her career is that she gets to care for animals and tackle new obstacles daily. She lives with her fiancé and their three cats, Mr., Cubby, and Tiger. Dawn loves spending time with her kids, and doing anything outdoors– hiking, biking, and vacationing (when she has time)!
